The Elkhorn Public Schools Preschool Program offers a quality educational setting for 3 and 4-year-old children with meaningful learning and play experiences guided by certified teachers who have specialized training in early childhood development and teaching. An enriched educational environment with age-appropriate curriculum focuses on the academic, language, social/emotional and physical development of children. Small class sizes and desirable adult to child ratios are essential components of the early childhood program
The Elkhorn Public Schools will offer a limited number of parent pay placements each school year. Applicants must live within the boundaries of the Elkhorn Public School District. Children must be three (3) years of age prior to January 31, 2018. If your child will be five (5) years old prior to July 31, 2018 he or she is not eligible to apply for the EPS preschool program.
A child enrolled in the Elkhorn Public Schools preschool program as a parent pay student serves as a role model for the other children in the program who are struggling learners. To be considered for our parent pay program, your child must have a completed application. The information you provide about your child’s development on page two of the application as well as participation in a district preschool screening will determine whether your child is eligible for participation in our program under our parent pay option. The preschool screening is designed to measure the most fundamental or basic concepts that are acquired by young children and determine if children are developing within an “average range” when compared with other children his or her age. The screening test, as well as, observation of your child in a preschool setting will assist the district in determining who qualifies as a parent pay student.
