Policy 1004.06

Advertisement and Promotion

Neither the Superintendent, staff, students, nor facilities of the District shall be used in any manner for advertising or otherwise promoting the interests of any commercial, political, or other non-school agency, individual or organization, except that:

1. The District may cooperate in furthering the work of any non-profit community-wide social service agency; provided that such cooperation does not restrict or impair the educational program of the schools and does not result in expenditure of school funds.

2. The District may use videos or other educational materials bearing only simple, appropriate advertisements for the sponsoring firm, providing such materials can be justified on the basis of their actual educational value. Advertisements may be sold to support curricular offerings such as journalism, newspaper, or yearbook functions, in which advertising is part of the curriculum.

3. The District may cooperate with any agency in promoting activities in the general public interest, and
which promote the education or other best interests of the students.

4. The District may sell advertisements for display on scoreboards and fence lines surrounding district
stadiums. Any advertisements are not to be construed as an endorsement by the District and no
advertisement represents the views of the District.
