The Regular Monthly Meeting of the Elkhorn Public Schools Board of Education was called to order at 6:30 PM. Members present: A. Parks, S. Ringenberg, R. Vokt, J. Shatel, N. Rogic-Greufe, and M. Wortman. President A. Parks noted that the meeting was governed by the Open Meetings Act, a copy of which is posted in the Board Room of the District Office. Advance notice of the Board meeting was published in the Omaha World Herald on April 7, 2026.

The meeting began with public comment. During the “Good News Report,” S. Ringenberg recognized the inaugural combined EPS Middle School and High School art show will be held during select hours from April 29 through May 3. Thank you to all EPS middle school and high school art teachers for facilitating this celebration of EPS student artists! Congratulations to ESHS junior Athreya Reddy, who was awarded Top of Fair Winner at the Greater Nebraska Science and Engineering Fair and will now have the opportunity to represent Nebraska at the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair! The ENHS Concert Choir was selected to participate in the 2026 Capitol Concert Series, allowing them to perform at the Nebraska State Capitol! Congratulations to all members of the ENHS Concert Choir and to vocal music teacher Casey Allen on this recognition! Elkhorn North Ridge MS 7th grader Santiago Flores Gomez has been named an NDE World Language Distinguished Scholar! Congratulations Santiago! Congratulations to EPS 8th graders Stella Austin, Addie Cain, Kaiden Caudillo, Hudson Haney, and Lilly Plambeck, who were selected from across the Omaha Metro to participate in a recent Nebraska Wind Symphony concert! ESHS senior Kansas Lohmeier launched a student-led perishable food rescue at ESHS in collaboration with Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue last fall, and these efforts have totaled the rescue of 2,252 lbs of usable, healthy food that’s been redirected to those in need in our community. That weight equals approximately 1,876 meals since the effort started in 2025! Thank you, Kansas, for your work supporting our community in this way! Erica Zhang, ENHS senior, has received the Scholastic American Visions award, a first-time recognition for ENHS! Erica’s artwork was selected from among more than 1100 student pieces from across the country. Congratulations, Erica!

It was moved by M. Wortman and seconded by N. Rogic-Greufe to approve the Consent Agenda items including: approval of agenda, approval of minutes for Monday, March 9, 2026, and approval of April bills for payment.

Shatel to approve the resignations from Gemma Conde Huertas, Kiley Fredrick, Erin Haack, Madison Kammerer, Elvira Khan, Piper Layne, Kaisa Marasco, Tim Mlinar, Kendall NewCheever, Brittany Nielsen, Kamirus Puente, Karlee Reed, Rena Riemann, Patrick Schiley, Candice Schneider, Evan Arnold, Danielle Costello, Christina Didier, Kari Hoovestol, Cindy Krug, Alexandra Lorensen, and Kristi Sexton effective at the end of the 2025-26 contract year.

It was moved by N. Rogic-Greufe and seconded by S. Ringenberg move to approve the appointment of Ilene Alvidrez, Daisy Clover, John Davison, Sophia Dietz, Haley Franco, Jakob Gray, Elizabeth Hernandez Rios, Carly Holloran, Jeremiah Jenkins, Reagan Klanderud, Tayler Klassen, Conner Kramer, Megan Lehr, Shannon McCune, Breanna McKenney, Jacob Mehmen, Morgan Rickley, Annabella Shields, Stephanie Stanley, Amber Vinkenberg, Megan Wilde, Katie Crews, Kylie Martin, Taylor Perry, Sayler Priester, and Annelise Wakefield for the 2026-27 school year. Additionally, amend the contract of Tina Reckamp from .5 FTE to 1.0 FTE.

It was moved by J. Shatel and seconded by M. Wortman to approve the proposed wage or salary and benefit packages for all support staff (excluding District Maintenance) and administrators for the 2026-27 school year as recommended by the Negotiations Committee.

It was moved by N. Rogic-Greufe and seconded by J. Shatel to approve policy updates to Policy 706.08 – Food Procurement and Policy 902.04 – Architects and Engineers in response to changes in State law and Nebraska Department of Education rules.

It was moved by M. Wortman and seconded by J. Shatel to approve policy updates to Rules and Procedures to Implement Policy 1006.01 and Policy 606.03 – Media Centers.

CARRY-OVER MOTION

It was moved by J. Shatel and seconded by R. Vokt to approve the Limited Option Enrollment Capacity Resolution as presented for the 2026-27 school year.

It was moved by M. Wortman and seconded by J. Shatel to approve a contract with Elkhorn South Property, LLC for $225,183.67 for the purchase of 23,950 square feet of property to be used for future parking at Elkhorn South High School along the south edge of the property.

It was moved by N. Rogic-Greufe and seconded by R. Vokt to approve a contract with CDW-G for $392,234.57 for replacing the district firewall security system for the district’s computer network. Approximately 18% of this purchase is reimbursable through Federal E-rate Program.

It was moved by J. Shatel and seconded by N. Rogic-Greufe to approve a contract with CDW-G for $687.615.40 for replacement Meraki wireless access points with 40% of this purchase being reimbursable through the Federal E-rate Program.

It was moved by M. Wortman and seconded by N. Rogic-Greufe to approve a contract with DataVizion for $486,749.83 for replacement network switches with 40% of the total cost being reimbursed through the Federal E-rate Program.

It was moved by S. Ringenberg and seconded by N. Rogic-Greufe to change the last day of school one day earlier to Thursday, May 21, 2026 for students from Friday, May 22, 2026. The calendar was set to make up two days if 4 or more snow days but there were only three days missed due to inclement weather during this school year. This motions allows students, families, and staff to plan accordingly.

It was moved by M. Wortman and seconded by N. Rogic-Greufe to move to enter into a Closed Session of the Elkhorn Board of Education for the purposes of discussing personnel for the reason that it is clearly necessary for the protection of the public interest and for the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual.

The Board entered Closed Session at 7:09 PM. The Board adjourned the meeting at 7:50 PM. The next Regular Monthly Meeting of the Board is scheduled for Monday, May 11, 2026, at 6:30 PM, in the Board Room at the District Office, 20650 Glenn Street, Elkhorn, NE 68022. Additionally, a Board and Administrator work session is scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Teacher Training Conference Center, 20650 Glenn Street, Elkhorn, NE 68022.
