ESHS Junior, Daelyn Chochon, has been selected as one of 14 students nationwide to participate in a Japanese Exchange program through the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). As part of the program, Daelyn will spend four to six weeks in Japan through a scholarship by the Kikkoman Corporation, valued at more than $11,000.
Daelyn served as the vice-president of the ESHS FCCLA chapter in 2014-15 and will serve as co-president next year. She also earned first place in the 2015 FCCLA state competition in the Interior Design division.
ESHS DECA students traveled to the International Career Development Conference in April. Students competed against over 12,000 students from across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Students receiving recognition for placing in the top 20% in their event include:

Sports physicals for athletes in grades 8-12 will be held at Skyline Medical Center on May 6 from 4:30 to 8pm. DECA students participated in the District Competition on January 24 at Millard South High School. Students competed against 800 students in a variety of events, testing their knowledge and skills against those in the metro area. Each student completed a 100-question test and a role play with judges from various industries.
Students placing in the top 3 include; Karthink Naryanan 1st place automotive services; Philip Holubeck 1st place business finance, Jack Ellis 1st place marketing management, Austin Hoffman 1st place sports and entertainment marketing, the team of Ethan Fratzke and Nick Keyser 1st place business law and ethics; and the team of Sam Hansen and Will Ruffalo 2nd place business law and ethics. Students placing in the top 8 of their event include; Sovin Birla, Jake Lortz, Tyler Dunn, Josh Wax, Jacob McNeil and Kerry Worley.
These students will now attend State DECA competition and compete among 1200 students from across the state for a chance to qualify for the International Career Development Conference.
The ESHS girls golf team defeated Papillion-La Vista to win the 2014 State Championship. This is the team’s third state title, but the first State Championship in Class A.
The Storm softball team earned second place at the State Tournament in October. The team won the district championship, which also marked Coach Terry Graver’s 100th victory with the Storm softball team.
The ESHS boys tennis team took first place at state in October. This marks the third state championship for the team in just five years.
The ESHS Junior Dance Clinic will be held Saturday, January 17 from 2-5:30 p.m. Students in grades K-8 are invited to attend. Download the flyer for details.

The Elkhorn South High School football boosters invite Storm Fans to come to Elkhorn South High School to cheer on the football players as they leave for the homecoming game on September 19, 2014. Feel free to bring signs or banners to hold up and show your support or just bring yourself and your family to send the players off. The buses are scheduled to leave at 5:40 pm, so please arrive at the south end of the school around 5:20 pm. Then join us at the football stadium at EHS for the game as your Elkhorn South Storm takes on Norris High School.
