ESHS Drama Club will host a musical theatre camp for students entering grades 6-12, June 13-17 with a special performance of “Legally Blonde The Musical” on June 17. For more information download the flyer here: Elkhorn South Musical Theatre Camp. All proceeds go to support the ESHS Drama Club.
On Tuesday, April 5th, members the ESHS soccer team visited Quality Living Inc (QLI), a rehabilitation center serving those who have suffered traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and severe strokes. Athletes got a first hand look at the effects of serious brain and spinal cord injuries and the unique methods used to rehabilitate patients. Players met with QLI alumni who told stories of overcoming adversity, appreciating your abilities, and finding a purpose that is greater than yourself.
On March 5, the Storm Girls Basketball team defeated Waverly to take home the school’s first State Title in Girls basketball and the school’s third state championship this school year.
The Elkhorn South Cheerleading Team competed at the 2016 Nebraska State Cheer and Dance Championships in Grand Island on February 20. The team won the Class B State Championship in Tumbling for the third consecutive year and earned Runner-Up in Sideline. The competition is sponsored by the Nebraska Coaches Association. The team is coached by Brooke Blythe, Rachel Romanek and Abbie Lamb. Choreographer for the team is former ESHS cheerleader, Erica Myrick.
The Elkhorn South Dance Team competed at the Nebraska State Cheer and Dance Championships in Grand Island in February. The team won the Class B State Title in Hip Hop for the fifth consecutive year and placed second in the Jazz category. The competition is sponsored by the Nebraska Coaches Association.

ESHS Cheerleaders will host the Jr. Cheer Clinic Aug. 17-20, with a performance at the football scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 21. Students entering kindergarten through 5th grade are welcome to participate. Download the flyer for details.

Sports physicals for athletes in grades 8-12 will be held at Skyline Medical Center on Aug. 3 from 3:30 to 8pm. Please contact Mary Lynch (EHS 402-289-4239) or Julie McKenzie (ESHS 402-289-0616) after July 1 to make an appointment. It is recommended that an appointment is made, as walk-ins will be asked to wait until there is an opening.

Congratulations to the ESHS Girls Soccer and Tennis teams on their 2015 State Championships!
ESHS Junior, Daelyn Chochon, has been selected as one of 14 students nationwide to participate in a Japanese Exchange program through the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). As part of the program, Daelyn will spend four to six weeks in Japan through a scholarship by the Kikkoman Corporation, valued at more than $11,000.
Daelyn served as the vice-president of the ESHS FCCLA chapter in 2014-15 and will serve as co-president next year. She also earned first place in the 2015 FCCLA state competition in the Interior Design division.
