Text Box:   The Washington Monument is located in Washington D.C and honors the first president of the United States (1789 - 1797), George Washington. The monument was dedicated in 1885. The Washington Monument is just over 555 feet tall! That makes it the tallest object in Washington, D.C.! A flag from each state surrounds the monument. If you were to take a ride on the elevator to the top of the monument, you could see the Lincoln Memorial, the White House, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and the Capitol building.
