which represents liberty.

The Statue of Liberty is located in New York City. The statue is the first thing that many immigrants saw when they first came to the United States. To them, it was a symbol of hope for a better future.

The Statue was actually a gift from the people of France. On October 28, 1886 the United States dedicated the statue.

Did you know that the arm holding the torch measures 46 feet? The index finger is 8 feet long and the nose is nearly 5 feet? Overall, the statue is 305 feet tall!


On the Statue of Liberty is inscribed:

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning
to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore."
