Elkhorn Middle School is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and responsible environment for developing young adolescents into life-long learners through educational excellence.
Welcome to Elkhorn Middle School's Home page.
Young adolescent learners are very capable and dynamic learners. Their learning abilities and needs range widely and are continuously changing. As a result, they require careful guidance and support as they move from childhood to adulthood.
These learners, between the ages of 10 and 15 experience tremendous physical, social, emotional and intellectual change. The varied patterns of growth create enormous diversity among them. Yet, as a group, they still have more in common with each other than with elementary or high school students.
Elkhorn Middle School is committed to a middle grades program which is responsive to the young adolescent student. Our program stresses academic achievement, responsibility, reliability, and cooperation through teamwork while recognizing the differences that exist. We provide students the opportunity to explore wide ranging topics in the safety of a supportive instructional team environment.
Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students are placed on academic core teams. Each grade level will teach the following curriculum areas: reading, math, science, history and language arts. In addition to students academic core subjects, all students rotate through exploratory classes consisting of art, music, computer applications, family consumer science, industrial technology, health and physical education. Our curriculum is presented to students in an integrated and exploratory pattern.
