Injury/Scar Story on back of perfect paragraph packet. If you don’t have a scar/injury story that’s personal, it can be of someone that you know. If you still can’t think of anything, you can create a made-up, yet realistic fiction story that centralizes on a scar/injury. Don’t be morbid but be descriptive.

Label the topic sentences and clinchers and vary sentence starters and sentence types (Short, medium, long; simple, compound, complex) just like practice sheet #12 encourages in your perfect paragraph packet.

Create a color-coded key (like on a map) with these items:

Go over the website and a few of the points from each side. Encourage the students to read the points all the way to the bottom of the webpage.

Once finished, open up to Google Classroom and see the assignment assigned after getting connected to the class.

Each paragraph needs to address each side of the argument. Follow the ACE format from RACER: Topic sent., citation, explain, citation explain, clincher.

Read pages 73-74 from Writing about Nature book

Message to remember: The purpose of breaking down, relating, and analyzing words is so that we can relate ideas to one another to deepen our understanding of multiple concepts. When I create a metaphor, it builds a connection that allows me to understand both of those unrelated ideas that much deeper. Frayer Models aren’t about exposing you to new words, rather deepening your connections with those words and ideas.

With a master frayer model to the side, model how through think alouds as the students fill them out at the same time. Each class re-fill out a blank frayer model, but you can have your master off to the side as a “key” to get ideas from. The students will fill out their frayer models during think aloud.

The other two words on the frayer model for this week…

Agitate:https://www.google.com/search?q=agitate+etymology&rlz=1C1GGRV_enUS751US752&oq=agitate+e&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.4764j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Allege:https://www.google.com/search?q=agitate+etymology&rlz=1C1GGRV_enUS751US752&oq=agitate+e&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.4764j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Use the two links from the Moodle page titled “Frayer Model Links” to guide you with the filling out of each Frayer Model’s left side. For the right side (Synonyms, Antonyms, Examples, Non-Examples), have the students go to the different areas of the room. 4 Corners each day-Master, Mostly Understand, Somewhat Understand, Not a Clue. First discuss any ideas that you can think of for any of these boxes. The more ideas, the better-record all the thoughts. When the teacher indicates, three of you rotate clockwise to the next group to discuss your ideas. Rotate two more times every 1-2 minutes.

**Have everyone return to their seats and discuss whole group with the popsicle sticks to ensure variety. Everyone should be writing down any ideas they hear.
