Policy 201.02

Board Membership – Elections/Appointment

The board shall consist of six members elected at large by the qualified voters of the school district in a manner prescribed by state law. Terms shall be staggered so that three board members are elected at each general election.

The board may fill by appointment any vacancy that may occur on the board. Such an appointment will last until the next general election when the voters by the normal board member election process will select a board member to complete the remainder of the unexpired term. If the board does not fill the vacancy by appointment, the vacancy may be filled by election at a special election. If a majority of the seats on the board are vacant, the Secretary of State will call a special school district election to fill the vacancies.
