Fourth and fifth graders from across the District geared up for the Battle of the Books on Monday, March 19. Participating students began reading books at the beginning of the school year in preparation. During the Battle of the Books students compete against other teams, answering questions to test their reading comprehension.
Don’t forget your physical! All physicals must be scheduled after May 1, 2012 to qualify for next school year. A school physical clinic will be held at Skyline Medical center on Saturday, May 5 from 7 to 10:30 a.m. The clinic will offer sports physicals for students entering grades 8-12 in the fall. Breakfast is served every day from 7:35 to 7:55 a.m. at the elementary schools and 7:40 to 8 a.m. at the secondary schools; and supervision is provided for students eating breakfast.
Elkhorn South performed “Footloose” March 15, 16, 17 and 18. Footloose was the school’s second musical since it opened in 2010. Vocal Music Director, Adam Lambert, said being part of a musical gives students the kind of real-life stage experience that simply cannot be taught in the classroom.
On March 2, Theodor Seuss Geisel would have celebrated his 108th birthday. Students across the District celebrated by hosting guest readers who shared some of their favorite books.
There will be no school Wednesday, April 4 through Friday, April 6 for Spring Break.
